Metal: Solid Sterling Silver
Diameter: 2cm
Approx Weight: 6.5 - 7 grams
Hallmarked: No (under 7.78 grams)

A classic ring made from solid sterling silver and featuring a medallion embossed with St George on his horse above a cowering dragon. Typically bought and worn by gents, but also suitable for women who love to wear statement pieces. The diameter of the medal is 2cm - slightly smaller than a half sovereign coin.

The Symbolism of St George

The image of St George fighting the dragon symbolises good winning over evil. St George is the patron saint of many countries including England, Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia and Catalonia. Most likely a Roman solider, who was canonised in AD 494, St George is believed to have protected the English army from as far back as the year 1100. The George Cross - name after King George VI and awarded for acts of great heroism or courage - bears the image of St George vanquishing the dragon.
