Children's Jewellery - Safety Guidelines
We know how fun it is to buying jewellery for children, however, small items of jewellery can pose a significant safety risk to children. Please follow our best practices below.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS
- There is a real risk of children under 36 months old putting jewellery in their mouth and choking. For that reason, we do not recommend any of our earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, rings or any other small items of jewellery for children aged 3 years and under.
- If your child is over 3 years of age but still puts non-food items in their mouth, we do not recommend our jewellery.
- Your child’s jewellery will need to be replaced as they grow. Please do not allow your child to wear an item that is too small for them.
CHILDREN'S EARRINGS
- Our earrings pose a choking risk to children under 36 months old due to their small parts.
- Take care when fitting butterfly backs onto your child's earrings. Earrings that are worn too tight may become embedded in the earlobe or cause other pressure damage.
- Our children’s earrings are not suitable until the initial piercing has healed.
- Earrings should be removed, cleaned, and your child's lobes inspected frequently to help prevent infection and pressure damage.
CHILDREN'S BANGLES & BRACELETS
- Bangles and bracelets are designed to be worn by children for brief periods only while supervised by an adult.
- Ensure the bangle/bracelet fits comfortably without being too tight or too loose.
- Inspect skin around your child's bangle/bracelet regularly for pressure damage.
- Always remove the bangle/bracelet before nap/bed times or when children are unsupervised, no matter how short the period.
- Children's bangles/bracelets are not not designed to be worn for extended periods of time.
- We do not recommend our bangles and bracelets are worn by children under 36 months of age. They pose a serious choking risk to children under 3 years of age.
