About the Figaro Chain
The figaro chain consists of one long oval link, separated by two or three smaller links which can be oval or round. The pattern of 1+3 or 1+2 continues along the length of the chain, adding symmetry and balance. We've not been able to find any concrete evidence on the origins of this chain style, though the consensus seems to be that the chain originated in Italy, and gained its name from the popular plays and operas of the 18th century: the Barber of Seville and the Marriage
of Figaro. Italian figaro chains are made in both solid gold and sterling silver, and can be made with flat link, or a rounded, curved link - the latter tending to be the heavier of the two styles. Figaro chains are popular with both men and women, and finer chains look fabulous holding a treasured pendant. Figaro chains also work well as bracelets and anklets.
