Size: UK P / US 8.25 / EU 57.5
Resizable? Not recommended (opals do not like heat)
Age: 1930-1940
Material: 18ct Yellow Gold
Marks: 18ct
Weight: 2.53 grams
Principal Stone: Opal
Principal Cut: Cabochon
Case: Modern Ring Box

A fabulous opal ring, that we've conservatively listed as Art Deco, but may be as old as Edwardian. The ring has been fashioned from solid 18ct yellow gold and set with five, graduated opal cabochons, the largest of which is 5mm wide x 6mm long. You can see from the pics that there is varying body colour in the opals - the centre three stones are whiter, while the outer stones display more blues and greens. The play of colour in all stones is good, with plenty of reds visible under the light.

It's really a charming ring, not in the least bulky and very attractive on the finger. It's in great condition overall, with only light scratching to the opal surfaces and small chip to the underside of one of the outer opals. This chip can only be spotted with a loupe and has almost certainly been there since the stone was originally polished. A fan of the opal stone will absolutely love this five stone ring.
