Weight: 7.52 grams
Principal Stone: Diamond
Principal Cut: Single Cut
Second Stone: Ruby
Second Cut: Single Cut
Case: Modern Navy Ring Box
A beautiful mid 20th century serpent ring, probably Russian in origin, and coated in a fabulous blue enamel including impressive scale-work in a slightly brighter tone. On the snake's head sit three small single cut diamonds and she has rubies for eyes. This highly decorative ring is fashioned from solid 18ct gold and is a heavy piece at 7.5 grams in weight. Beautifully made - a real craftsman's creation - with all enamel in tact.
Snakes are one of the most enduring motifs in jewellery, used from ancient times right up to today with a variety of meanings. This ring was made in a era when Bulgari and Cartier and Boucheron were all producing fantastic serpent pieces for high profile clients like Elizabeth Taylor. While this doesn't bear any such markings (sadly), it's definitely an expensive boutique piece and would have been worn with pride by a very stylish lady!
